The acclaimed standup comedian Alaa Abu Diab returns to Toronto, reflecting on recent events and the past few months as part of his new show Mesh Abyad (Non-White).
Since stepping into the scene a few years ago, Jerusalem’s funniest man Alaa Abu Diab has gone on to sell out shows across the world from Cairo to London and Dubai to Toronto. His cutting-edge wit and hilarious political commentary have become a classic staple of his work while his nonchalant demeanor disarms (and charms) his audiences.
His new show Mesh Abyad explores the concept of “non-whiteness” and “otherness” and takes a dig at hypocrisy and double standards, touching upon subjects such as the World Cup in Qatar, the invasion in Ukraine, and new material to reflect on the events we’ve witnessed in the past few months.
