Toronto police have charged an Oshawa man after he allegedly lured children over the Internet using Snapchat.
Investigators carried out a search warrant on April 25 at an Oshawa residence after receiving reports a suspect had been luring a child on the Internet using the social media platform Snapchat and the username ‘Starboy_xx0’, say police.
As part of their investigation into the alleged possession of child sexual abuse materials, officers executed a search warrant at an address in the Thornton Road North and Rossland Road West area and seized an electronic device, police say.
As a result, a 24-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication, luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication and invitation to sexual touching. He also faces charges of make child pornography, make available sexually explicit material to a person under 16, possess child pornography, access child pornography, make available child pornography and breach of probation.
Police say investigators believe there may be additional victims.
